5 classic maps we hope will be in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

While there are plenty of reasons fans are looking forward to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, it is not surprising that the multiplayer mode is at the top. Online gaming has been the backbone of the Obligations series for more than a decade, ensuring that even a campaign starring Task Force 141 is the most anticipated second part of the sequel. as with any Obligations multiplayer, maps are the most important aspect of any game.

While fans are sure to see several new maps with the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, it’s the redone locations that always turn out to be the biggest hit with the fanbase. Infinity Ward certainly shouldn’t go overboard with map remakes like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, although there are several places that should be recovered. As long as they release sporadically throughout the post-launch seasons and don’t completely overshadow the game’s new maps, there are plenty of classics that would be great to see in Infinity Ward’s modern engine.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Leaked and Teased Map Remakes

Before we get into which maps should join the lineup for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, it’s worth mentioning that several iconic maps have been leaked and one has been officially teased. The teased location is none other than Highrise, one of the most popular maps from the original. modern warfare 2 due to his sniper fights and his secret spot on the roof. With Highrise all but confirmed to appear, it doesn’t make much sense to include it on the list.

The same can be said of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2The leaked map remakes, which are the result of war zone 2The leaked map. Considering how the areas of the original war zone Verdansk map were reused for Modern war 2019 maps, it would make sense for the same thing to happen with modern warfare 2. As such, the classic MW2 remakes that are supposed to appear in the war zone 2 The map will likely double as multiplayer maps within the new modern warfare 2.

If this turns out to be true, Terminal will likely be added at some point in modern warfare 2life cycle of . This map may have been redone multiple times, but this is for good reason, as the plane and surrounding airport serve as one of the most iconic locations in the series. Afghan will supposedly be remade, allowing players to fight through its caves once more, while the mountain town of Favela could be rebuilt. Lastly, Quarry is expected to appear in the new modern warfare 2 sometime.

While fans of the campaign will remember the Estate as Ghost’s place of death in the origin.l modern warfare 2, the multiplayer map was a unique play space that should be brought back soon. Not only was the map large, making it a fun place for private matches as it was perfect for community-created modes like Michael Myers, but the Estate layout could make it perfect for the rumored Attackers vs. Defenders mode. With this mode supposedly heavily inspired by rainbow six siegeit makes sense to give players a large building to defend and fight in, and Estate provides that.

Scrapyard was already redone for call of duty: modern warfare 2019’s multiplayer, though this shouldn’t deter Infinity Ward from bringing it back once again. After all, Treyarch’s constant Nuketown remasters prove that it’s good to keep bringing back fan-favorite locations, as longtime fans like to have a map they’re familiar with. Scrapyard’s two large buildings provided opportunities for long-range firefights, while the side buildings were great for mid-range battles and the scrap heaps were a haven for those who like close-range combat. With the map allowing every style of play to thrive, it’s truly a classic.

Shipment may be the most iconic small map in Infinity Ward, but Rust is very close to it, as many players will recall resolving their differences in a 1v1 on this map. High areas to climb, well-hidden areas to duck, and a sandy environment all come together to make this play space iconic. While Shipment is likely to return given its immense popularity, Rust should too. After all, both maps appeared on Modern war 2019, proving that it is possible for two small locations to thrive in the same game. Additionally, leaks have suggested that the Intervention is making a comeback, which is guaranteed to make a map like Rust even more nostalgic.

Wasteland is one of the strangest. Obligations maps of all time, as it bears no resemblance to the three-lane maps that have come to define the franchise. As the name suggests, players are thrown into a giant terrain with tall grass and radiation patches, with only an underground area providing cover and a place to hide from killstreaks. A sniper’s paradise, this map would be perfect for the leaked DMZ game mode and Snipers Only LTM. A smaller version would also work great for Gunfight, as players could be forced to duke it out in the Wasteland tunnel.

secondary base

Rounding out the list is Sub Base, a solid snowy map that stands as one of the least appreciated locations in the original. modern warfare 2. Like Scrapyard, it made all playstyles viable and its medium size will always be the ideal format for the series. Most players either loved Sub Base or didn’t care, and few disliked the location. As such, it would be a safe addition to the lineup that would add more visual variety to the mix.

Realistically, the original modern warfare 2 had such a stellar map lineup that it’s hard for Infinity Ward to go wrong when choosing their new versions. Skidrow’s town setting and its yellowish aesthetic have stuck with players, so it’s an area that could be nice to see again. Karachi offers a different kind of city to fight for, and its many side routes ensure that those who prefer to run can always deal with campers. Even Underpass has its fans despite care packages constantly being stuck on the bridge above. While the maps listed above would be preferable, and the leaked lineup of remakes is extremely strong, there are plenty of maps that could benefit from a fresh coat of paint.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
