After months of speculation, leaks, and rumours, Capcom finally confirmed that Resident Evil 4 would be getting a remake. This information is highly anticipated and expected by fans since Capcom has already made a remake of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

It would be a misstep for Capcom to skip Resident Evil 4. The best part of the announcement is that Capcom gave us the game’s release date: March 24, 2023.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Trailer Breakdown

The trailer begins with a set of string instruments playing an upbeat tune. Then the title Resident Evil appears followed by the number 4. We then hear an audio playback of a possible police report that says, “We found a baby eagle.” This report most likely indicates that they have found Ashley’s location. Ashley is the president’s daughter who has been missing, and Leon Kennedy is a special agent whose mission is to find her at all costs.

The scene fades to black after transitioning into a vast dark forest. We then see Ashley scared and like she’s running from something. In the next scene, we see a glimpse of Leon walking through the dark forest and entering a house. Leon opens the door to the house and then the scene changes to an angled shot of the iconic “town” in Resident Evil 4.

Then we hear a voice that I would assume is Luis Sera. Luis is a recurring character who helped take down Los Iluminados. The trailer then gives us a glimpse of the cult of Los Iluminados and even the “Big Cheese”, Bitores Méndez.

We also see Ada Wong in the trailer, along with some Ganados and a shot of the iconic lake in Resident Evil 4.

The trailer ends with the voice of Sadler, the leader of Los Illuminados, who speaks of “Receiving the most sacred body”. This line most likely developed when Sadler injected Leon with Las Plagas. Lastly, we see Leon in the backseat of a car looking at Ashley’s picture, then the Resident Evil 4 title is shown along with the release date.

Capcom kept Resident Evil 4 Remake’s gameplay to a minimum, only showing us a few seconds every now and then. However, we can safely assume that Capcom will base this remake on their previous projects, Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake. Based on these remakes, we can expect Resident Evil 4 to deviate from the original source. However, to what extent is unknown.
