The upcoming release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is a topic of heated debate among fans of the game.

After digesting the recent Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 patch, the player base is hungry for the next installment of the game. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to release on October 28 and Warzone 2 later this year.

Warzone 2 Y #ModernWarfare2 you need a ranked mode at or shortly after launch or it will be extremely difficult to keep people engaged for 2 years until the next main Call of Duty release.

In a recent Twitter post, ModernWarzone stated that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 need a ranked mode at launch to keep the player base engaged until the next title arrives two years later. This post has generated a storm of discussion about the presence of a competitive aspect in the upcoming twin releases of the Call of Duty franchise.

Playerbase Wants Ranked Mode For Upcoming Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 And Warzone 2

A significant part of the community considers Call of Duty Warzone to be outdated and many players are considering waiting until Warzone 2 comes out. This is the result of a combination of factors.

One of them is that Warzone’s current weapon meta is considered to be extremely biased towards Vanguard weapons. This has caused many players who like to play with modern weapons to feel that the game does not satisfy the entire player base.

They feel the company is making those weapons more powerful to drive sales of Call of Duty Vanguard and store weapon blueprints.

Aside from this, Warzone’s unofficial skill-based matchmaking is making it difficult for casual players to enjoy their matches. Based on various stats, Activision prioritizes kill-to-death (K/D) ratio as the yardstick for grouping teammates in the lobby. This leads to many casual players with good K/D ratios being placed with others who have much higher skill levels.

Therefore, the gaming experience of both types of players is ruined. Casual players feel that the game is much more difficult for them, which leads to frustration after several such lobbies. On the other hand, veterans feel that lobbying is too easy for them to get their blood pumping.

@ModernWarzone Make sbmm less punishing for getting it right and make a really good ranked play in multiplayer and warzone resolved its not that hard

This issue has prompted players to ask the developers to add a separate ranked mode to the game. The player base feels that the game is too harsh for casuals if they do well in similar lobbies. By doing well, they automatically come under pressure from players with much more experience and skills.

The addition of a ranked mode will clearly separate the player base based on their power in the game. This seems to be the perfect solution for the aforementioned issue with Call of Duty Warzone matchmaking. Matchmaking will then be based on your rank level, thus negating the issue the player base is currently facing.

@ModernWarzone It has to be with the release. Not after. They have been talking about ranked mode for over a year. It has to happen and it’s a bit sad that it hasn’t come yet. One of the biggest developers in games and they have no game rated. Let’s go everyone! @Obligations

The player base feels that the inclusion of ranked mode needs to be done at launch of the game. Warzone 2 will be a completely new game where players will have to start without progressing. Therefore, they feel that adding a ranked mode from launch will optimize the success of the next title.

@ModernWarzone Nothing to grind on WZ other than personal accolades/camouflage challenges designed for MP. Enter a ranked mode and then cut down SBMM in the pubs. I’m pretty sure there was an article saying they were going to bring in a competitive mode or something. However, that was a problem over a year ago.

One fan believes that along with the addition of ranked, the presence of a casual mode will be perfect for the upcoming game.

The addition of a casual mode with less strict skill-based matchmaking will perfectly complement ranked mode, bringing players of a much broader spectrum of skills together in the same lobby. Therefore, the gaming experience will be much more exciting and will keep the player base happy and content.

@ModernWarzone I agree that a lot of players are getting bored and also it would be better for everyone because you would be facing others with similar skills as you and you would be rewarded for playing and winning.

The Twitter user’s response above concludes with the opinion of the player base. Casual players will not only be able to enjoy the game, but users with better skills will also be able to compete with others with similar skills, which will make their gaming experience much more satisfying and rewarding.

But the presence of a ranked mode must also be accompanied by the presence of a powerful anti-cheat system. Without him, ranked games will be full of cheaters. This will definitely cause outrage for players who are really working and progressing through the ranked levels.

@ModernWarzone They need a balanced set of weapons. This supercharged meta thing is so old and outdated. Let’s use the weapons we want to use! I haven’t bought vanguard so doing the weapon unlock challenges isn’t even an option. How are my weapons maxed out but still can’t be gunsmith BS? classified though

Fans also feel that the developers should not make such a biased weapon metagame in the next installment of the game. A balanced weapon set will enhance the gameplay experience where players can focus on upgrading their own abilities, rather than taking down every squad that comes their way with a low time to kill (TTK) weapon.

More balanced gameplay will force players to think tactically and this will result in a much more diverse experience in matches.

With so many players from the fan base leaving the game, we can only hope that the developers listen to the constructive criticism and implement it in the next title. An exciting and diverse gaming experience will be sorely needed to ensure fans stick around and enjoy future titles.
