How to make a sculk farm

sculls in Minecraft are a set of organisms belonging to the deep dark biome. They were first set to be introduced in 1.18, but were eventually added to the game in the 1.19 The Wild Update. There is more than one type of sculk block and they are all useful for different purposes. Although some are useful in red stone artifacts, others use them only for aesthetic purposes. Here is our guide covering a particular type of sculk block and how it can be used to do marauder farmand get one of the most effective XP in Minecraft 1.19.

Sculk Farm in Minecraft 1.19

Sculk Catalysts are a new type of Operational Block introduced in Update 1.19. This is the main requirement to make a XP Farm. The way it works is if any mob dies within a radius of 8 blocks around the catalyst, the catalyst will spread the sculk around that spot. It’s random, and in the process of spreading sculk features, it will also spawn other sculk blocks like regular sculk, sensors, veinsetc.

The reason sculk farms are so efficient is that they drop XP Orbs when it is extracted. This makes for a quick and easy way to get hundreds of XP by continually mining these blocks. This is applicable no matter what tool you use to mine. So setting up a way for mobs to die around sculk farms allows for quick and easy access to XP.

How to get a Sculk Catalyst in Minecraft 1.19

Sculk Catalysts can be collected from the deep dark biome. They focus on the Old Town in Minecraft. Be sure to use a hoe with the silk touch enhancement to pick up the block. You can also choose to take down the newest bad boy in town, The Guardian. Killing him drops one Sculk Catalyst With 5XP. This isn’t a very good option as the Warden has a much larger health bar than the other bosses in the game, and it’s just not worth the effort. Now that he has a Sculk Catalyst, he can start working on the farm right away.

How to make the Sculk XP farm in Minecraft 1.19

This is very much like a normal XP farm in a closed skyscraper tower except there is a sculk catalyst where mobs fall and die. The closed chamber at the top of the building has flowing water that carries mobs into a hole in the center that leads to a vertical drop to the bottom. This kills mobs on contact and thus activates Sculk’s catalyst and spawns Sculk functions he needs mine and collect XP.

  • Build a pillar on each of those 4 previously placed blocks. Make sure the pillars are at least 25 blocks tall, as that’s the minimum height mobs can fall from and die. Join the pillars via platforms around the edge that are 3 blocks high.

  • Make a the ceiling for the camera. This way, mobs can spawn at any time of the day, even when the sun is out, as the only requirement for spawning is a dark area.

Once the farm is built, all you need to do is wait until the mobs start spawning and drop to your death in the sculk catalyst. This will activate the catalyst and spread Sculk across the ground. Wait until enough has been accumulated, then mine for XP orbs. After a certain point, the spawns will become endless and you won’t need to farm for more XP or wait any longer.

Note that the Sculk features that spawn due to the effect of Sculk’s catalyst do not create blocks, but instead replace existing blocks around them. So after a certain point in time, you’ll need to complete the blocks you mined to keep the farm running. The best way is to replace it with soil or paver blocks as they are easily found. Now that you have a Sculk farm up and running, you no longer need to worry about XP and can get as much as 1000 XP points of a mining cycle.
