New Resident Evil trailer ditches mythology for lots of blood, monsters, and weird mayhem

Even not including the film franchise that largely eschewed the source materialit’s safe to say the demonic resident The universe is full of complications, timeline issues, and canon mishaps. However, that hasn’t stopped video games from reaching the pinnacle of action horror over the years, and it hasn’t stopped attempts to bring the zombified saga into live action, either. The last iteration is Netflix’s next episodic series, which looks set to get as close to the game’s story as possible, even while introducing its own unique twists on the monstrous history of Raccoon City and the Umbrella Corporation. But with his latest trailer, demonic resident lightened up on the core mythology to make way for a veritable buffet of gooey, bloody, gooey mayhem.

As the opening trailer shows, the world has essentially come to a standstill in 2022 after a deadly virus spread across the globe and caused an apocalypse. 14 years later, Ella Balinska’s Jade Wesker has much to discover as she struggles to survive through her attempts to discover how her father Albert (Lance Reddick) is connected to the Umbrella Corporation and his dangerous concoction nicknamed “Joy”, as well as what happened to her sister Billie (Siena Agudong). I imagine it would be a lot easier for Jade if society hadn’t been overrun by infected organisms with a thirst for blood.
