A very dedicated Minecraft YouTuber has taken his time to painstakingly recreate the famous van Gogh piece, only this time with a unique twist.
A dedicated gamer spent an entire month recreating the image of Vincent van Gogh. The starry Nightall within the popular block building game. Minecraft.
Minecraft YouTuber ChrisDaCow, who has spent many years creating meticulous builds in the game, uploaded a video to his channel documenting his work and the problem-solving processes he used to bring his work to life. “I set my goal because the starry night seems like a beautiful place to walk,” ChrisDaCow said in an interview with pc gamer. “I wanted to be able to look up from inside the city and actually see van Gogh’s Starry Night sky! Funny thing is, I wasn’t a huge fan of van Gogh before I started, but after creating the entire build, He’s definitely my favorite artist.”
ChrisDaCow faced many challenges while creating the piece that would make even the most skilled Minecraft speedrunners pull their hair out. These ranged from counting the individual houses in the original painting to rebuilding each tree twice. He even had his friend update five-year-old software that would help him better match the blocks in the game to the colors used in the artwork. “I started thinking, maybe some things just weren’t meant to be 3D, maybe this wasn’t possible,” ChrisDaCow said in the video. “But then I remembered Vincent.”
What it culminated in was a jaw-dropping build that looked eerily similar to the original, all done in a forced 3D perspective. Not only did he put a cool spin on a well-known classic like others have done with famous works, but ChrisDaCow was practically forced to do it in 3D. Minecraft would not have been large enough to load the distance needed for an accurate 2D recreation.
Minecraft it was initially developed by Markus Persson in 2009 and released for PC in 2011. The main appeal of the game comes from the freedom that the creators have to do whatever they want. Players can recreate maps from popular video games like elden ringbuild a library to store real-life media files to bypass internet censorship and even invent a working computer. Minecraft’The original developer, Mojang, was acquired by Microsoft in 2014 and is the best-selling video game of all time, with more than 238 million copies sold. Its popularity has led to the development of a Minecraft movie with Jason Momoa rumored to star.
The Starry Night is an oil on canvas painting created by Vincent van Gogh in 1889. The painting depicts the view of an imaginary village from his asylum room in France and is one of the most famous paintings in the world. It is currently in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
ChrisDaCow has stated that his map will not be available to the public, citing forced perspective as the reason.
