New updates are being added at the end of this story…….
The original story (published on January 18, 2022) is as follows:
Minecraft is one of the most popular video games of all time, joining Mario and Tetris. Developed by Mojang Studios and released in November 2011, Minecraft has millions of players to date.
All thanks to the endless procedurally generated 2D world, you never run out of space or resources to collect. However, in recent days, players have been encountering various bugs and glitches.
Just a few days ago, players complained about ships disappearing when downloaded, while others said they were getting the error ‘Inner Exception: java.io.ioexception’
While some say they are getting a “We couldn’t validate your access, please try to sign in again”. message, others say they are receiving a Authentication Error.
Players tried restarting the game but it’s not helping. You can clearly see the increase in the number of reports in the last few hours on Downdetector in the image below.
This is what some of the whistleblowers have to say.
I can not log in
When I try to log in to the site it says “We couldn’t validate your access, please try to log in again” but it doesn’t work. Are the servers down or something?
hello @MojangSupport are the servers having problems? I’m trying to play modded minecraft on a server, but was told that the auth servers are under maintenance and now I’m getting a force close error, but my other friends (not in the same country as me) can play just fine.
Fortunately, Mojang Status has shed some light on the matter and has confirmed the fact that the Minecraft servers are currently down for maintenance.
We are running a behind-the-scenes update that is affecting some of our services for Minecraft: Java Edition. Multiplayer is affected. – Ined
However, they did not share any timeline as to when the servers will be back up and running. From the looks of it, it looks like Minecraft players will have to wait a few more hours before they can connect.
We hope that Mojang Studios will warn Minecraft players before taking the game offline so they can complete their activities before the servers go down.
However, we will keep an eye on the issue and update this space as needed, so stay tuned.
