Fortnite Chapter 3, the final major update for Season 2, 20.40, is here. This brings Ali-A’s Icon Series, Sideways Showdown week, Loot Lake map changes, and the Doomsday Device which seems to be setting up an end-of-season live event.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is coming to an end, but that’s not stopping Epic Games from continuing the content. Shortly after Scarlet Witch and the Star Wars Day celebration arrived in update 20.30, update 20.40 brought Ali-A’s Icon series and overhauled the Loot Lake point of interest with the new Doomsday gadget.

Doomsday Device arrives at Loot Lake with Fortnite update 20.40
Fortnite data miners have discovered that Fortnite Update 20.40 has brought the Doomsday device to Loot Lake, and it appears to tie into a live event we’ll see in Chapter 3 Season 3.
The Doomsday Device is a huge tower on the shore of Loot Lake, surrounded by small buildings that will be perfect for looting. Popular leaker HYPEX said, “The Doomsday device is set to have some periodic pulses that allow glider redeployment, low gravity, or extra speed,” but explained that these features may not be included in the update.
Sideways Showdown Week in Fortnite Update 20.40
Wild Weeks is back for the final weeks of Fortnite Season 2, with Sideways weapons returning as part of the Sideways Showdown 20.40.
The side rifle Y side machine gun they have returned and can be found as floor loot and in chests. With no Cube Monster pieces to upgrade them, you can now take them to an upgrade bench.
There’s a new set of challenges and you’ll have until May 24 to complete them before the next wild week.
Live event found in Fortnite update 20.40
Fortnite players were devastated when Chapter 3 Season 1 didn’t end with a live event, but it looks like Season 2 will bring one.
Data-miners have been digging through the 20.40 game files and uncovered an end-of-season live event, which will be followed by an “extended downtime” before Season 3. Shiina also said that “There will be various cosmetics available for the event”, believing that Paradigm and Jonesy will play a role.
With Season 2 scheduled to conclude on June 3, we expect the event to arrive around this time, with Season 3 kicking off a couple of days later.
Ali-A arrives with the Fortnite update 20.40
Ali-A, the top Fortnite YouTuber, arrives with update 20.40, where players can get the ‘Ali-A Was Here’ spray for free as soon as the update is available.
All players need to do is head to Ali-A Experience Island (code: 5135-8778-2901) and eliminate 25 opponents. Then the YouTuber’s Spray will be yours for free.
Players can then earn the Ali-A Icon Series skin in the Ali-A Cup or purchase it from the Item Shop, where the set includes a Back Bling that doubles as a glider, pickaxe, wrap, and emote.
Fortnite 20.40 update bug fix
Thanks to Epic Games Fortnite Community Issues Trello Boardwe can see the issues that were confirmed to be fixed in the next game update which is 20.40.
