New Minecraft Snapshot Makes Warden More Powerful

A new snapshot for the Java version of Minecraft has been released and introduced a powerful new ability for the fearsome Warden boss. Snapshot 22W15A is a response to players who felt Warden was easy to escape from and the new ability added for Warden specifically combats this.

Players who tried the previous one Minecraft Snapshots found that if they rose away from the Guardian, the creature could do nothing to reach or attack them. This made escaping the Guardian pretty easy, as long as you had a few blocks and some patience, as the Guardian would eventually give up and retreat to the ground, giving players a chance to sneak around.

Warden now has a powerful ranged sonic boom attack that triggers when players try to hide behind walls or climb a tower. Whenever players perform these actions or are out of range of the Guardian’s melee attack, the beast will switch to its formidable ranged attack that can penetrate through walls.

Having a shield is essential while facing the Guardian. However, while a shield can block a wave of the Guardian’s sonic boom, the attack disables shields, meaning that after a hit, players will be temporarily defenseless.

Taking on the Guardian is now nearly impossible, even with enchanted Netherite armor and enchanted Netherite tools because the creature is relentless and incredibly powerful. Ultimately, when facing off against Warden players, the best hope of survival is trying to sneak past the powerful creature.

New features in 22W15A

  • Added “When the squad jumps into town” advancement to get each frog variant on a leader.
  • Added “Sneak 100” advance to sneak near a Sculk Sensor or Warden to prevent them from hearing you
  • Added a new ranged attack to the Guardian.

Guardian Ranged Attack

  • Building high, hiding behind walls, or being out of range of her powerful melee attack will cause Guardians to switch to her ranged attack.
