The competitive Fortnite esports scene is being heavily criticized. Professional gamers are upset, to say the least, with the current increase in bugs and cheats in the game.
‘Kona’ RichHomieQuinn, a self-proclaimed 15-year-old pro gamer, caught him cheating in the FNCS semifinals and open stages, posting a clip of the player’s exploits.
Kona later decided to go online on her Twitch channel and show off her trick live in front of her audience, garnering attention from the Fortnite community. Hacking him contained several tools that gave him an unfair advantage, such as soft aiming, auto headshots, no bloom/RNG, and oddly enough, control over loot from him.
While loot in any battle royale game is auto-generated, the ability to customize your loot rarity chances is incredibly broken. It could be used by just about anyone with no other players being the wiser.
Tfue and NRG StableRonaldo react to Kona hacks in Fortnite
Other pro players like Tfue tweeted about Kona satirically asking for three of a kind in competitive matches to get some easy wins with the help of his tricks.
StableRonaldo_ interviewed Kona after her account was banned and found out that Kona bought the hack for just $11. It’s I take it 5 minutes to bypass Fortnite’s highly secure anti-cheat system and abuse it until one of the streamers caught it.
Later, clix, another streamer who interviewed Kona, asked her about the hacks and if there were any links she could use to check them out. When the couple went to the website, it showed 11,000 downloads. In fact, it was outrageous to learn that there are so many people in the game who still use these cheats and win against players who play without them.
Kona was immediately suspended when he was broadcasting so he couldn’t play the finals when asked about his reaction to the ban, he replied that he didn’t care much.
Kona: “I would have won the tournament if I hadn’t streamed.”
QueDenverGuy on YouTube also had a short interview with Kona asking her about other pro gamers using this hack in the Fortnite esports arena, to which Kona replied “yes”. Many other lesser known pro players have been using soft aim tricks to get easy wins in higher stakes competitive matches.
Later, when asked about his response to his account being banned, he responded by saying that he was a little sorry. However, he claimed that he was a necessary sacrifice that he had to do to draw attention to the cheaters in the game. Hopefully Epic Games gets a wakeup call from this and makes sincere efforts to fix the game.
#FreeKona: Twitter reacts to the Kona ban in Fortnite
Unsurprisingly, Twitter exploded with mixed reactions following the incident. Many gamers took to social media to express their anger towards Fortnite and how it seems to be on the verge of decline by the day.
While some of them started a movement called #FreeJarvis and #FreeKona, while others were totally in favor of not giving a hacker influence as he cheated in the esports scene in the end and if he didn’t get caught, could have won the final and ruin. the gaming experience for real skilled gamers.
With this hack in mind, it’s time for Epic Games to take appropriate action against these hackers and keep a close eye on the competitive scene so that this kind of nonsense doesn’t ruin the experience of other players.
