Technoblade’s death saddens fans of popular Minecraft YouTuber: NPR

Technoblade, one of the most popular Minecraft video creators on YouTube, has died following a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer, according to his family.

I was 23 years old.

“If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every time, as those were the happiest years of my life,” he wrote in a message to his community about 8 hours before he died.

His father read the message aloud in a Youtube Thursday’s video titled “So Long, Nerds” that reached millions of people and hit #1 on the trending page.

“I hope you enjoyed my content and that it made some of you laugh, and I hope you all live a long, prosperous and happy life because I love you,” Technoblade wrote in his message.

Millions watched Technoblade Minecraft replay videos on YouTube. This past April currently has nearly 30 million views.


“Technoblade out,” he said at the end of the note.

The Technoblade family revealed that his first name was Alex and shared photos of him in the video. His family did not mention his last name and asked that his privacy be protected.

Reach millions in more ways than one

With over 11 million followers on YouTube and almost 4 million followers on Twitter, Technoblade brought together a wide community of people who enjoyed his humor, kindness, and Minecraft video games.

“He was the most amazing kid anyone could ask for,” his father said in the video with tears in his eyes.

In part of his message, Technoblade thanked those who bought his merchandise and channel memberships and explained that now his brothers could go to college if they wanted to.

“Since Technoblade’s early online days, he was always devising strategies to delight and reward his audience: giving away prizes online, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most of all, sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughter,” it reads. in a statement from his family at the end of the video.

Minecraft, a 3D computer game where users can build their own structures, is one of the most popular video games in the world.

Mourning the death of Technoblade

Many have expressed their sadness at Technoblade’s death on multiple social media platforms, including Reddit.

“Alex, you have been the mainstay of our community. We all loved your content. You are one of the kindest, most caring, and most wholesome people our community has been privileged to be around,” one said. Reddit user commented on Friday.

“We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy. Although Alex passed away, Technoblade’s legacy will never die. We all look up to you as one of the most wonderful people on this planet,” the user added.

John Green shared his condolences with the Technoblade family and community on Friday.

“So very sad to hear about the death of Technoblade, a talented and hilarious 23 year old youtuber that I used to watch with my son. My thoughts are with Alex’s family, friends and fans.” tweeted.

The Technoblade family said it will donate a portion of the proceeds from its online merchandise orders to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, according to its website.

“Thank you for sharing your journey through it all while doing the work you loved for your loving fans,” his family wrote at the end of the video.
