The Wither is one of the most difficult Minecraft mobs to defeat. He is one of the bosses in the game as the Ender Dragon. He is also one of the more unique mobs, as players have to manually summon him with Soul Sand Blocks and Withered Skull Heads. Due to this, he can be summoned anywhere in the world.
Many Minecraft players who encounter Wither for the first time are instantly terrified by his strength. Not only is he strong in terms of his attacks, his health constantly recovers if players aren’t consistent in damaging him. Fortunately, there are a few ways to easily defeat the beast and get the rare Nether Star.

Top 5 Tips For Defeating Wither In Minecraft, Ranked
5) Use enchanted weapons
When fighting the Wither, players must be skilled in both melee and ranged combat. After the beast reaches half its health, it creates a shield against all ranged attacks, forcing them to attack with swords or axes. Therefore, both the bow and melee weapon of choice must be enchanted.
The Infinity enchantment on the bow and the Sharpness enchantment on the sword or ax will help players a lot, as they need an infinite amount of arrows and the maximum power of their melee weapon.
4) Carry lots of golden apples
Of course, players will be carrying plenty of good food to stay alive during the fight. However, they must also take golden apples which will give them extra hearts of health. Since the Wither is arguably the strongest mob in the game, they’re going to need all the help they can get.
Additionally, Wither’s exploding skulls apply the ‘Wither’ status effect, which gradually depletes a player’s health by blackening their hearts. This is when golden apples can literally save your life.
3) Use milk cubes
As mentioned above, if players are hit by the mob skull’s exploding bullet, they will be affected by the Wither status effect. This is an extremely dangerous state and will deplete your health, as well as blacking out the health bar. This will prevent them from knowing how much health they have left.
This is where the milk bucket can come in handy. When players drink from it, it removes all status effects, both positive and negative. Therefore, you can save them from the Wither status effect.
2) Summon the Wither in a closed space
Wither has a tendency to follow the player and keep attacking them with explosive withered skulls. To avoid this, players should always try to fight the beast in a confined spot where the mob can’t move as fast. Although Wither will still be able to break blocks and try to follow them, his movement speed will be slow.
Ideally, players should create an entire fighting path underground. They can design a place where the mob will be summoned, connected to a long narrow corridor where they can run and keep attacking the beast.
1) Trap the Wither inside the End island’s background source (Java edition only)
If players simply want to kill the Wither without a proper fight, they can simply summon the beast under the bedrock fountain on the main End island. In Java Edition, Wither cannot break or pass through rock blocks. Thus, he gets completely stuck and won’t be able to attack the player at all.
