MyMetaverse and Enjin said they released playable non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Grand Theft Auto V and Minecraft game servers.
The MyMetaverse”Meta HomeThe NFT collection is the first minted on Efinity, an NFT parachain built on Moles. Sydney, Australia-based MyMetaverse said that these are the first in-game NFTs to be minted at Efinity through the MetaHome NFT collection. NFTs can be used across the full suite of MyMeteverse games, including player-configured servers for Minecraft and GTA5.
MyMetaverse is a game development company that specializes in creator-led metaverses with play-and-win economies. He said that at launch, NFTs perform different functions in three different games.
MetaHome NFTs offer unique gameplay utility on all worlds where they are recognized. In auto infinity, a MyMetaverse Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 server, take the form of a rare vehicle; in survival infinitya MyMetaverse Minecraft server, NFTs turn into a special sword.
I asked if these NFT integrations were specifically approved by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, the companies behind Grand Theft Auto V, or Microsoft, which owns Minecraft developer Mojang.
In response, MyMetaverse said in a statement: “To clarify, NFTs were minted at Efinity and can be incorporated into the MyMetaverse Grand Theft Auto and Minecraft game servers. In Infinity Auto, a MyMetaverse Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 server, they take the form of a rare vehicle; in Survival Infinity, a MyMetaverse Minecraft server, they become a special sword. In answer to your question, they are not official integrations with Rockstar or Minecraft.
MyMetaverse is one of the ecosystem partners given early access to make NFTs available on Efinity, with a variety of projects expected to be added in the coming weeks. Enjin, the ecosystem for integrating NFTs into virtual worlds, is helping build Efinity, a Polkadot-based parachain designed to enable fast and affordable NFT transactions.
The launch of NFT on Efinity, a scalable, decentralized, cross-chain network designed to bring NFT to everyone, is a milestone for Enjin and the next generation of blockchains built on Polkadot, the companies said.
“We believe that the most valuable NFTs will be those that have the greatest impact on people’s everyday experiences,” said Simon Kertonegoro, CEO and founder of MyMetaverse, in a statement. “With utility in three separate games, the MetaHome collection is a blockchain-enabled exploration of interoperability between games. Thanks to the Enjin toolset, it is now the first playable NFT within the Polkadot ecosystem.”
In addition to the GTA 5 and Minecraft servers, the MetaHome Collection already works on other MyMetaverse titles, including the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game Infinity Realms. MyMetaverse takes advantage of Enjin’s open platform to integrate the MetaHome NFT collection into its game servers.
Witek Radomski, CTO of Enjin, said in a statement: “Enjin aims to be the NFT highway that connects game studios and their users to the blockchain. Leveraging Enjin’s full suite of tools and the scalability of the Efinity parachute, we’re excited to collaborate with MyMetaverse to integrate NFTs into AAA games like GTA 5, allowing gamers to own digital collectibles within their favorite games.”
An exclusive set of game studios currently have access to the Efinity development platform, following the official launch in March. The latest users include Square Enix and Entropia Universe, joining an ecosystem of more than 100 game studios building on Efinity before it is released to the broader development community, Enjin said. Enjin has also been building a blockchain explorer, wallet, marketplace, and various developer tools to support the growth of Efinity.
MyMetaverse was founded in 2018.
