It looks like 2023 is going to be another jam-packed year when it comes to AAA releases, so we’ve rounded up all the biggest games you need to watch out for. PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC and Stadia next year.

After a stellar year of major releases in 2022, you might think things will slow down in the next 12 months. Elden Ring and Horizon: Forbidden West caused quite a stir, and we still have God of War: Ragnarok and Modern Warfare 2 to look forward to.

Looking ahead to 2023, though, the lineup looks just as jam-packed, with plenty of games expected to finally hit shelves.

Expected: January 24, 2023

If the wait for Final Fantasy 16 is getting too long, then Forespoken could be the perfect game to bail you out. The debut game from Luminous Productions, a team that features many FF VX developers, is a beautiful-looking action RPG that focuses on fast, fluid traversal across a sprawling map.

You play as Frey, a normal woman from New York City who is suddenly transported to the strange land of Athia. Why is she there and why is her fist talking to her? It won’t be long before we find out.

Dead Island 2: February 3, 2023

After first being announced in 2014, followed by years of hellish development, Deep Silver finally showed off the Dead Island follow-up game at Gamescom 2022, as well as announcing its long-awaited release date.

In Dead Island 2, players will race through a zombie-infested Los Angeles, with more brutal weapons to craft and heads to explode than ever before. After nearly a decade in development, a return to the series seems long overdue.

With the original being one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, Breath of the Wild 2 could be the most hyped game of 2023. Gamers fell in love with Nintendo’s new look at the classic franchise in 2017, and they are still making new discoveries to this day.

Little is known about the sequel at this point, but we’d hope you’ll dig into another beautiful version of Hyrule and solve more physics-based puzzles. It may have been pushed back from 2022, but BOTW 2 will still dominate the year.
