Today, during a special Showcase event, Bungie announced the first details of Destiny 2: Lightfall, the latest expansion for Destiny 2, set to release on February 28, 2023. Lightfall is the penultimate chapter in the Destiny 2 Light and Darkness Saga. and the epic story continues. that’s been nearly ten years into the narrative. Additionally, Bungie revealed a new partnership with Epic Games that brings Destiny 2 to the Epic Games Store and sees Destiny content appearing in two Epic games: Fortnite and Fall Guys, as well as Fortnite-inspired decoration sets appearing in Destiny 2: the first time original Fortnite characters have appeared in another video game series.

In Lightfall, players will face Calus, the malevolent former Emperor of the Cabal, who has returned to our solar system along with the Pyramid fleet as a Disciple of the Witness, the cosmic nemesis first introduced in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. Using the abilities granted by a new Strand subclass, Guardians will explore a new destination: the gleaming megacity of Neomuna on Neptune, which is under attack by Calus’ mysterious and deadly Shadow Legion.

Pre-orders for Destiny 2: Lightfall are now live and everyone who purchases the Lightfall Edition + Annual Pass will get the Quicksilver Storm Exotic Auto Rifle and more, right away.

Today’s Showcase event saw the announcement of a partnership between Bungie and Epic Games. Starting today, Destiny is now available on the Epic Games Store, and players who pre-order Destiny 2 on the Epic Games Store before August 30 at 10AM PST will also receive the Destiny 2: 30th Anniversary Event Bundle from free form.

As part of the partnership, Destiny content will be coming to two Epic games: Fortnite and Fall Guys.

Fortnite players will be able to customize their characters with new outfits representing iconic Destiny characters Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey and Exo Stranger, along with new Destiny-themed cosmetics including Back Blings, Pickaxes and Sparrow Gliders. Destiny themed cosmetics will be available in the Fortnite Item Shop later today at 5pm PT.

Additionally, players will be able to experience a new Fortnite island inspired by the classic Destiny 2 Javelin-4 Crucible map, developed by the PWR creator team using the Fortnite creative toolset. More than just a remake, Island also features a “control mode” style of play, complete with unique weapons and ultimate abilities. Fortnite Island is live right now.

Additionally, Fall Guys players will be able to descend into the Blunderdome in Destiny-themed costumes beginning September 17, including Titan, Hunter, and Warlock-themed outfits, a new “Spicy Ramen” celebration, and other accessories.

Three new sets of Fortnite-themed ornaments will be available in Destiny 2 starting today, featuring a classic Battle Royale outfit design for each Destiny class:

Today’s Showcase event also featured the new Season of Destiny 2: Season of Plunder. Released today, Season of Plunder follows the Guardians as they hunt down the Kell of Darkness Eramis, who is scouring the galaxy in search of powerful relics. To combat Eramis, the Guardians will assemble a team of fearless adventurers as they battle through all-new activities and uncover secret treasures along the way.
