Gun

red9

Cost 14,000 points
Full upgrade cost 331,000pts
Strengths does massive damage
weaknesses Slow rate of fire and takes inventory space
Fully upgraded stats 6.5 (FP), 0.4 (FS), 1.67 (RS), 22 (C)

Red9 is the best pistol in the game in terms of damage dealt. It’s great against tough enemies like J.Js and Novistadors and can be used against Ganados to conserve ammo. The downside, however, is its fire rate and reload speed, which means it’s not great against large hordes of enemies, it also takes up 8 inventory slots without the stock, which is more than any other firearm. On top of everything, Red9 is the best looking pistol in the game and feels like a joy to use.

rear tail

Cost 24,000pts
Full upgrade cost 362,000pts
Strengths a good off-roader with good damage and superior handling
weaknesses can use a lot of ammo, only available after beating Salazar, very late in the game
Fully upgraded stats 4.5 (FP), 0.27 (FS), 0.83 (RS), 35 (C)

Blacktail is a pistol monster due to its very high firepower, rate of fire, and handling. So it is an excellent option to deal with groups of enemies. It only unlocks after you complete the Castle, which is very late in the game and can be a bit expensive to fully upgrade. Players can also happily shoot while using this weapon which can burn ammo.

Gun

Cost 8,000 points
Full upgrade cost 198,000pts
Strengths Deals critical damage on headshots
weaknesses Low damage and very inaccurate
Fully upgraded stats 2 (FP), 0.33 (FS), 0.87 (RS), 25 (C)

The pistol is Leon’s starting weapon in Resident Evil 4. While its stats are very low compared to other pistols, it does critical damage on headshots and by unlocking the exclusive upgrade, the critical headshot chances are increased by 5 times. So a fully upgraded pistol is deadly to enemies that have a head, but is otherwise useless against bosses. So using this weapon depends on your play style.

Gun

Gun

Punisher

Cost 20,000pts (Found free)
Full upgrade cost 276,000pts
Strengths Can pierce two enemies
weaknesses Not very powerful…
Fully upgraded stats 1.9 (FP), 0.33 (FS), 0.83 (RS), 28 (C)

Punisher has the ability to penetrate two enemies with a single shot and can be found early in the game. Interestingly, if you shoot 10 blue medallions, you can get a free punisher and if you shoot all the blue medallions, you will get an upgraded punisher. The fully upgraded Punisher cost if you shoot 10 medallions is 276,000 points and if you shoot 15 medallions it drops to 266,000 points.

As such, it is a very useful weapon early in the game. He also has the ability to break through the wooden shields of the zealots in the Castle. But it has the lowest firepower of any firearm, so late game use is not recommended.

Shotgun

Striker

Cost 43,000pts
Full upgrade cost 349,000pts
Strengths Large clip capacity
weaknesses very short range
Fully upgraded stats 12(FP), 0.73(FS), 0.67(RS), 100(C)

The Striker has the highest damage, rate of fire, and load capacity of all shotguns. It works as an excellent “get away from me” weapon for crowd control. And with a whopping 100-round magazine capacity after the exclusive upgrade, you never have to worry about reloading. However, the main downside is the short damage falloff range, making it useless against most boss fights like El Gigante and Salazor.

Striker

Striker

riot gun

Cost 32,000pts
Full upgrade cost 383,000pts
Strengths Narrow dispersion and long range
weaknesses Takes up a large inventory space, not very good against large crowds
Fully upgraded stats 10(FP), 1.53(FS), 1.5(RS), 17(C)

The Riot Gun is the most accurate shotgun with such a narrow pellet spread and long range that it almost feels like an overpowered pistol. It also has the unique feature of aiming faster than other shotguns, making it easy to use. The drop is it feels like an overpowered firearm as said before so it’s good for taking down enemies that are in front of the player but leaves them vulnerable to enemy attacks from the side so that using this weapon depends on the playstyle of the individual. It is also the most expensive shotgun to upgrade and its exclusive upgrade is nothing to write home about.

Shotgun

Cost 20,000pts (Found free)
Full upgrade cost 257,000pts
Strengths Powerful early game weapon
weaknesses Low charge capacity and recharge speed
Fully upgraded stats 8 (FP), 1.53 (FS), 1.50 (RS), 18 (C)

Average firepower, good spread, good at taking down Ganados. The shotgun is a lifesaver in the early village sections of the game, but quickly becomes obsolete once its older brothers show up. Its exclusive upgrade can also be misleading, as it doesn’t increase range much and doesn’t knock enemies back at long ranges, so it’s hard to get the most out of this upgrade.

Magnum

murderer7

Cost 77,700pts
Cost to fully upgrade 259,300pts
Fully upgraded stats 35 (FP), 0.70 (FS), 0.93 (RS), 14 (C)

Killer7 is an excellent weapon for fighting tough enemies and mini-bosses. While Broken Butterfly’s exclusive upgrade does a lot more damage than Killer7, which doesn’t have an exclusive upgrade by the way, you won’t get the exclusive upgrade until near the end of the game, when there isn’t much use of a magnum.

broken butterfly

Cost 38,000pts (Found free)
Cost to fully upgrade 455,000pts
Fully upgraded stats 50(FP), 0.70(FS), 2.33(RS), 12(C)

The broken butterfly is the second most powerful weapon in the game. His exclusive upgrade increases the damage to 50, which is way more than Killer7’s maximum firepower of 35, but this upgrade is only available in Chapter (5-3) near the end of the game, so Killer7 can be a better option until then.

rifles

semi automatic rifle

Cost 35,000 points
Cost to fully upgrade 316,000pts
Strengths High firepower and rate of fire.
Fully upgraded stats 15(FP), 0.4(FS), 1.33(RS), 24(C)

Due to its much faster rate of fire than the bolt action rifle, this weapon is a much better option at shorter ranges. Your custom scope can also be equipped for very long range shots.

semi automatic rifle

semi automatic rifle

bolt action rifle

Cost 12,000 points
Full upgrade cost 277,000pts
Strengths high firepower
weaknesses Low rate of fire and reload speed
Fully upgraded stats 18 (FP), 2.73 (FS), 2.33 (RS), 18 (C)

The bolt action rifle can be really useful when you first come across long range shooting in the valley. However, it quickly becomes obsolete due to its slow rate of fire and reload and the need to aim after each shot, making the semi-automatic rifle a better option. However, its exclusive upgrade increases its firepower to 18, which is 3 more than the semi-automatic rifle, so some players might prefer this in the long run.
