Warzone and Modern Warfare players are encountering ‘dev error 5476’ preventing them from joining matches, and here’s how you can fix this issue.
It can be extremely frustrating to encounter error messages that interrupt your gameplay, and Warzone Pacific players have been plagued by these throughout the game’s history, including error 47 and error code 48.
The ‘dev error 5476’ code is an issue that prevents players from enjoying Warzone and Modern Warfare. This has been an increase in players experiencing this error after the arrival of the Season 4 Reloaded update.
Fortunately, there are a few ways to fix this problem.
How to fix dev error 5476 in Warzone and Modern Warfare
Dev error code 5476 can appear for many different reasons when playing war zone or modern warfare. Players have reported this happening when they set their calling cards or emblems randomly.
Other times, this error code is the result of corrupted game files or a cross-matching issue. We will go through all the different solutions that you can use to fix dev error 5476 in both games.
Check for updates/Reset your console
Sometimes this error can be fixed by waiting for a new update. Your device should automatically notify you if one is available to download, but that’s only possible if your internet connection is working.
Check your connection and try to reset your internet device if you suspect it is not working properly. You can also reset your gaming rig to see if it connects to your WiFi again.
This is how you can restart Xbox consoles:
- Hold down the power button until the Xbox turns off completely
- Release the power button
- Unplug the power cord
- Wait five minutes
- Plug the power cord back in
- Turn your Xbox back on
If you’re using a PlayStation, then this process is much easier:
- Hold down the power button for 5 seconds until the PlayStation turns off completely
- Wait a few seconds
- Hold down the power button until the PlayStation turns back on
Take the randomness out of your business card and emblem
One solution that has been successful in the past is to change your Business Card and Emblem so that they are no longer set to “Randomized”.
This is what you need to do:
- Sign in to the game
- Go to the Barracks tab
- Check if your emblem is set to “Randomized”, then change it to “All Together Now” or any other category
- If your calling card is also set to “Randomized”, change that too
Once this is done, return to the lobby and you will be able to join the game without seeing the error message.
Verify Warzone and Modern Warfare game files
If the problem is due to missing or corrupted game data on your PC, you can try checking the game files and see if that fixes the problem.
This is how you can repair game files on PC:
- Access Blizzard battle.net app
- Click on the Warzone icon
- Select the gear icon and click “Scan and Repair”
You will have to wait while the game files are scanned and verified. If you are informed of any missing or damaged game files, you will need to reinstall the game.
Reinstall Warzone and Modern Warfare
If the problem persists, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game from the online store. This solution is the least attractive as you will have to wait a long time for the game to download again.
This is what you need to do:
- Uninstall the game
- Enter the online store
- Search Warzone and Modern Warfare
- Once you get to the game page, select ‘Download’
Once the game has finished downloading, go back to multiplayer and see if it works properly. Hopefully one of these solutions will work to remove the error message.
