All Confirmed Returning Characters So Far

After years of teasing and insider leaks, Capcom has officially revealed the next game in its back catalog that’s getting a modern shine. In a turn of events that may have surprised some viewers, it has now been confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 Remake is actively working. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the remake of the iconic survival horror game will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S early next year.

Thanks to Sony’s most recent State of Play presentation, there’s already a good amount of footage available for the Resident Evil 4 Remake, despite the long wait ahead. Beyond offering a glimpse of Capcom’s determination to modernize the experience, the roughly 2-minute-long video has already begun to hint at some important aspects of the story. As a result, it is already possible to identify some of the characters that are set to return.

For what is arguably a short debut trailer, it’s remarkable how many villains Capcom has already been able to confirm will be returning for the Resident Evil 4 Remake. For the most part, it seems as if the original villain structure and hierarchy of RE4 it will remain unchanged in 2023. Osmund Saddler can be seen in the State of Play video, seemingly in his role as the game’s main antagonist and leader of the Los Illuminados cult.

With Saddler confirmed to once again be pulling strings on the Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom has also pulled back the curtain on some of its minions that fans will meet. In a fleeting moment, zombie-like Cultist Zealots can be seen stalking the halls of the game’s castle. Other named enemies are also seen in slightly revised forms, such as Don José, RE4It is the first cattle.
