All Confirmed Returning Characters So Far

After years of teasing and insider leaks, Capcom has officially revealed the next game in its back catalog that’s getting a modern shine. In a turn of events that may have surprised some viewers, it has now been confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 Remake is actively working. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the remake of the iconic survival horror game will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S early next year.

Thanks to Sony’s most recent State of Play presentation, there’s already a good amount of footage available for the Resident Evil 4 Remake, despite the long wait ahead. Beyond offering a glimpse of Capcom’s determination to modernize the experience, the roughly 2-minute-long video has already begun to hint at some important aspects of the story. As a result, it is already possible to identify some of the characters that are set to return.

Leon Kennedy

The fact that the original Resident Evil 4main protagonist of front and center features in the RedoThe debut trailer for is not surprising. Players were able to see various images of Leon Kennedy performing what appears to be a faithful recreation of his classic mission. With the return of Nick Apostolides to voice the character after the Resident Evil 2 RemakeIt sounds like fans will enjoy a deeper examination of the hero’s backstory and psyche.

As in the original incarnation of the game, the counter-terrorist agent has once again been tasked with saving the US President’s daughter, Ashley. Beyond subtle hints that the character could appear in an expanded playable role, Ashley’s appearance has been confirmed to be based on model Ella Freya.

Although Resident Evil 4 Remake seems to be a faithful recreation of the survival horror classic, there are already some signs that Capcom is going to modernize parts of the experience. Beyond a new reference to Resident Evil Village, fans have also recorded the return of President Graham. Based on his interaction with Leon in the Oval Office, which fans have never seen in the game before, it appears that the American politician will play a more active role in the recovery of his daughter.

Ada Wong and Luis Sera

Although their respective appearances in the Resident Evil 4 RemakeWith the trailer for Son Fleeting, there is a feeling that Ada Wong and Luis Sera will play a major role within the survival horror game. While Luis can be heard interacting with Leon, likely in the game’s updated castle area, the former’s return is arguably the more intriguing of the two. With Leon still clearly haunted by what he witnessed in Raccoon City during the Resident Evil 2 Remakethe couple’s reconciliation should be entertaining to watch.

The villains of Resident Evil 4

For what is arguably a short debut trailer, it’s remarkable how many villains Capcom has already been able to confirm will be returning for the Resident Evil 4 Remake. For the most part, it seems as if the original villain structure and hierarchy of RE4 it will remain unchanged in 2023. Osmund Saddler can be seen in the State of Play video, seemingly in his role as the game’s main antagonist and leader of the Los Illuminados cult.

With Saddler confirmed to once again be pulling strings on the Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom has also pulled back the curtain on some of its minions that fans will meet. In a fleeting moment, zombie-like Cultist Zealots can be seen stalking the halls of the game’s castle. Other named enemies are also seen in slightly revised forms, such as Don José, RE4It is the first cattle.


Of particular note is Don José’s sicker appearance, which demonstrates the enhanced photorealism that Capcom is now employing in the game. Resident Evil 4 Remake. For the new version, it seems that Capcom has made the villain even more imposing, which could suggest that he intends to delve into the influences of the original design of him.
