However, goat horns are a bit harder to come by than the old mob drops. If you want to get your hands on some goat horns, you’ll need to be prepared to put in the time and work.. Fortunately, this guide will have everything you need to know to get started.

What are goat horns?

Goat horns are exactly what they sound like: the horns of goats. Once you get one, you can right click while holding it down to play a soundThere are eight variants of goat horn:

  • “Reflect”
  • “Sing”
  • “Search”
  • “Feel”
  • “Admire”
  • “To call”
  • “Yearn”
  • “Sleep”

The sounds of the first four resemble the honking noise of the Illager at the start of each wave of a raid, while the sounds of the last four are more “out there”.

Also, the last four horns can only be obtained from screeching goats (which make up only two percent of goat spawns), while the first four can only be obtained from regular goats. The last point to note is that if you’re playing Bedrock Edition, “Dream” is called “Resist”.

where to find goats

Goats breed in Jagged Peaks, Icy Peaks, and Snowy Slopes biomes. Essentially, if you see a mountain covered in snow, there’s a good chance it has some goats. Goats breed in the world generation, and then more slowly, to get as many goats as fast as possible, little boyNap two goats when you first arrive in the biome and breed them to get more.

You can of course try to collect horns on the spot, but given how many horns there are and the fact that you’ll need screaming goats, Raising a goat farm is basically a requirement if you want all the horns.

How to get goat horns

Goat Horns might be the trickiest mob in all of Minecraft. If you’re on survival and not peaceful difficulty, there’s a chance you’ll get rammed by the goats. Every 30 to 300 seconds, the goats check to see if any nearby mobs have been completely stationary. If they have, the goat will try to ram that crowd. Therefore, to get rammed by a goat, you have to stay completely still. It may take a while, but just don’t move and eventually, one of them will charge.

If the goat hits you, nothing will happen, but if you can get out of the way in time and make the goat hit a wall behind you, it will drop its horn. However, this only works if the wall was made of logs, stone, packed ice, iron ore, copper ore, or emerald ore.. It’s fine if the player placed these blocks, but the goat has to hit a material that would naturally spawn in its home environment for its horn to fall off. Use any block other than the one listed and the goat won’t drop a horn, even if it hits the wall. It should also be noted that baby goats cannot drop horns, due to not having any in the first place.

Getting out of the way of a charging goat is easier said than done. They charge fast and the animation that telegraphs the incoming attack is short. The goat will look directly at you and tilt its head lower than usual. At this point, get out of the way – the goat is caught in its load, so you are free to try to dodge it. If you are successful, you will be rewarded with one or two goat horns; sometimes goats lose one horn, other times they lose both.

Assuming you have a farm established to raise goats, the The best way to get horns is to build a long enclosure with walls made from one of the aforementioned blocks. Place a goat at one end and stand at the other, and the length of the area should give you time to get out of the way once you see the charging animation.. Keep in mind that goats can jump incredibly high, so anywhere you’re trying to contain them will need very high walls or a roof.

If you don’t mind having all the goat horns, there’s a (slightly) easier way. Ultra rare Pillager Outpost structures have goat horns on their chests; in reality, each Outpost is guaranteed to contain a goat’s horn.. However, only non-screaming goat horns can be obtained this way, meaning that if you want the full set of eight, raising and dodging rams is a must.
