The Rock hints at Fortnite X Black Adam Collab in Chapter 3

While the Striker Burst AR and Combat SMG have been nerfed in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, the Two-Shot shotgun is now strong enough for nearly one-shot players.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 has introduced several new weapons such as the Two-Shot Shotgun, the Hammer Assault Rifle, and the DMR. On the other hand, the MK-Seven Assault Rifle, Drum Shotgun, and LMG have entered the vault.

While players are still getting used to the new loot, epic games has altered the damage output and recoil of some weapons.

Striker Burst AR and Combat SMG now deal less damage in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3

The Striker Burst Assault Rifle and Combat SMG have been two of the most used weapons in Chapter 3. While the former is efficient for long range combat, the latter is explosive at close range.

The charts below should help readers clearly understand the nerfs:

Striker Burst Assault Rifle

Rarity previous damage current damage
Common 28 27
Rare 29 29
Weird 31 30
Epic 33 32
Legendary 3. 4 33

The Striker-Burst rifle will not only deal less damage, but players will also feel more recoil from the first bullet. Unlike this, the DMR automatically resets its recoil if the wielder does not fire for a few seconds.

combat submachine gun

Rarity previous damage current damage
Common 18 17
Rare 19 18
Weird twenty 19
Epic twenty-one twenty
Legendary 22 twenty-one

It appears that the aforementioned nerfs are a result of the community’s response to the latest set of weapons. Players are apparently reluctant to use the Two-Shot Shotgun and DMR because they feel useless compared to existing weapons.

The Hammer Assault Rifle (left), Two-Shot Shotgun (middle), and DMR (right) have arrived in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3

The nerfs can act as an indirect incentive for players to try out the new weapons and rely on them more often. This could also be why the Two-Shot shotgun is so much stronger now.

The two-shot shotgun in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 can now deal 198 damage per headshot!

Here is another table that will help players understand the latest advantages of the two-shot shotgun:

Rarity previous damage current damage
Common 75 80
Rare 80 85
Weird 85 90
Epic 90 95
Legendary 95 98
mythical 95 99

The Two-Shot Shotgun has a 1.75x headshot multiplier, and the damage numbers listed above show the weapon’s “max” damage. Consequently, it’s safe to say that players can deal over 190 damage per headshot with a two-shot shotgun of epic rarity or higher.

In an official tweet, Fortnite also reported that it increased shotgun pellet damage, minimum pellet count (from 3 to 4), and accuracy.

The Hammer Assault Rifle has not had any stat changes, but its recoil has been further reduced. Therefore, the weapon could now be ideal for medium-range combat.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 has just begun, and the developers have plenty of time to make any desired changes to the arsenal. The initial response to the latest weapon tunings has been positive, but the demand for the return of original weapons like the Pump Shotgun is still huge.
