There have been a few map changes in this update, including a location called Reality Falls, home of the Reality Tree. The area is filled with bouncing mushrooms that look like trampolines that players can use to jump and jump around the region. The map features deep purple trees, loot-filled caves, tranquil waterfalls, geysers that can shoot players into the sky, and more. The Reality Tree will also send out Reality Seed Pods that players can plant. Once they do, a sapling of reality will begin to grow. During matches, players will see their offspring in the same spot, progressively spawning better and better loot until they finally get Mythic loot. Of course, players will need to weed their offspring for it to provide them with their loot.

One of the new mechanics allows players to jump on the backs of wildlife present throughout the map, such as wolves or boars, and ride them directly towards the Ballers. These are giant hamster balls that allow players to fight and travel around the map. These were introduced in Season X, but have since been beefed up with more health, the ability to float on water, and a battery that will eventually die. If players prefer to use wild animals as a means of transportation, that’s fine too. Players also won’t need to dismount to engage in battle; they can demolish enemies by shooting or throwing weapons while riding the animal of their choice.

On top of everything else, new weapons have been released, including the Designated Marksman Rifle, an Assault Rifle, and a Hybrid Sniper Rifle. Also included are the Hammer Assault Rifle and Two-Shot Shotgun, both of which seem to wreak havoc on the opposition. Of course, some fan favorites will also return, including the Stinger SMG, Firefly Jar, Cow Catcher, The Dub, Repair Tool, and more.

Darth Vader is the ultimate achievement for players who have earned their Battle Pass. While it can be unlocked at the start of the season, it’s going to take some serious work to get there. Later on, players can unlock Indiana Jones cosmetic skins by completing missions. Along with these characters, others are also available at all levels of the Battle Pass. Evie will unlock right after purchasing the pass, followed by Adira, Stormfarer, Sabina, Malik, and Snap. Battle Pass players also have the opportunity to build Snap, a living action figure that comes with arms, legs, torsos, and heads that can be swapped with parts players find on the map.

In addition to all of these significant changes, a new storm disease causes storms to deal more damage to players caught in their range. However, there is no need to panic: players will be able to cure this disease by getting out of the storm before it kills them. Players will also receive a warning when they are close to contracting the disease, ensuring they have plenty of time to escape before meeting their doom.

The newest season of Fortnite is one for the books, bringing lots of new mechanics, characters, and a whole host of fun. Although the season is scheduled to end on September 17, changes can always be made regarding a guaranteed end date. Between the bouncing mushrooms, rocket-shaped geysers, loot-bearing trees, and wild animals used for transportation, players will enjoy countless hours of intense battles and parties.
