Major Fortnite update to change creative mode forever

Major Fortnite update to change creative mode forever

Fortnite’s creative mode is slowly but surely taking over the game. According to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, half of all play time in the game comes from player-made custom maps.

Since the developers have some official playlists, this indicates that users prefer to jump into the creative maps instead of the official BR and Team Rumble playlists. This is precisely why Epic Games is pushing better interfaces and creative options for users.

At the start of Chapter 3 Season 3, leakers managed to find a major update for Creative mode. It is not clear when it will be ready and included in the game, but it will improve the mechanics of the device and make things simpler for players. Here is everything that is known about it so far.

Fortnite’s creative mode is getting an overhaul

Before readers continue with the article, let it be known that this is not Creative 2.0. While this new system will improve on the existing one, it’s not a complete overhaul of Creative. It is currently unclear when Creative 2.0 will be added to the game. With that said, it’s time to move on.

The creative mode leak in question revolves around “devices.” These devices allow the creator to implement certain functions on his maps. However, at the moment, it is not fine-tuned and managing them all can get complicated.

HUGE Next creative update found by @solotrueyousef & @DeutscheAlman It looks like Epic is working on replacing the device channel system with a new system where you can select devices and features directly. It’s still unfinished, but here’s his current idea so far:

With the new update, the entire device system will be reworked and replaced with a more user-friendly system where the creator can select devices and features directly. In theory, this should speed up the entire process and shorten the hours it takes to get things in place.

Sadly, while there is some visual aid to show how the new system will look and work, there is no confirmed release date yet. Knowing how Epic Games works, these features are likely to be added during a big update.

While this is likely at the start of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, it can easily be added during the current season. Also, according to the leaks, this system may or may not replace the old one, but instead works as an additional way to manage devices. It remains to be seen which of the above comes true.

What does the Fortnite community think about these changes?

As with all updates in Fortnite, reactions are usually a mixed bag of bonbons. While some are excited about the update, others are concerned that it could break the existing system and jeopardize their maps. A creative builder by the name of EchoBuilds stated:

“I don’t see how it would replace the current system, as that would probably break everything, but being an additional way to control things would be awesome and would also seem a lot easier.”

Although these concerns may seem invalid, Epic Games has a history of breaking the game with certain updates. Although not intentional, the repercussions are absolute. When it comes to custom maps, the community will not take wasting hours, if not months, of work lightly.

Here are some more reactions from users:

@HYPEX @solotrueyousef @DeutscheAlman In my opinion, I think this would piss off the Fortnite creative community. It has a huge impact on what we build and do and while I think it’s pretty clever, it won’t meet some people’s needs 😊

@HYPEX Epic needs to stop trying to fix things that aren’t broken.

@HYPEX @solotrueyousef @DeutscheAlman huh? This is great but I am worried about how it will affect the devices on the old system, I have a map with 300 channels and different uses and so many devices on the channels I can’t remember how they work. If this resets them, it will be a problem.

With all said and done, while the new system looks better, it will require extensive testing before being implemented. If it’s an additional method of managing devices, there shouldn’t be a problem. However, if the update is intended to completely replace it, there may be some unforeseen consequences.
