Both leakers RalphsValve and Tom Henderson claim that classic Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps are coming to CoD 2022.

In a video covering everything known about CoD 2022 so far, Henderson said that these maps were taken from the scrapped Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, of which only the campaign was released.

RalphsValve leaked five maps that players can expect to see in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These are some of the most popular from the entire series and we may see them return.

Here are the returning Modern Warfare 2 maps:

  • Favela
  • High
  • Shipping
  • Terminal
  • Quarry

Favela would pit players against each other in closed areas while Terminal provided excellent sniping opportunities for Call of Duty players during long-range combat situations.

High led to tons of 360, scopeless mounts and gave birth to several world famous CoD clans and Shipping it is so popular that it still appears in titles like Call of Duty: Vanguard today.

These are currently just leaks though, and we may see completely different maps added in the final game once it arrives.

Call of Duty 2022 will integrate with Warzone in the same way that Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard have, but it is expected to bring an entirely new map.

Cold War brought Rebirth Island with its integration and then gave Verdansk an overhaul in Verdansk ’84. However, the integration of Vanguard brought Caldera, a completely new Battle Royale map.

Along with the leaked DMZ mode for Modern Warfare 2, VGC claimed that CoD 2022 will launch with a new Warzone map consisting of classic maps from the Modern Warfare franchise. Reportedly, this map will also be used for DMZ mode.

The integration should also include all weapons from CoD 2022.

Tom Henderson claims that Modern Warfare 2 will come with a completely new game mode: DMZ. While we don’t know exactly what the game mode will entail, the leaker described this mode as “MWII’s version of Escape From Tarkov.”

Henderson believes the mode will have been in development for over four years by the time Modern Warfare 2 releases, and you’ll hit various locations and have to loot houses, buildings, vehicles, crates, and abandoned corpses. He also said that the area has been made up of maps from the original MW2 that act as points of interest and should also act as the new Warzone map.

From this description, it sounds like DMZ will be one of the more entrenched game modes in the upcoming title. Hopefully it will be an intense experience for Call of Duty 2022 players.

This mode will see players attack and defend target sites while using “hidden locations, booby traps and cameras”.

Attackers vs. Defenders would get a revamped health system, and players can assign each of their squad members separate roles, such as “Squad Leader.”

However, prominent CoD leakers TheMW2Ghost and Tom Henderson state that their sources say “it was a cut mode from MW19 and they haven’t heard or seen anything about it coming to MW II.”

Henderson clarified that “it doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t come, but I’m inclined to believe people working on the project or with very good connections in the studio.”

These two modes are just leaks or rumors at the moment, so they have not been confirmed yet. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we get more official information on Modern Warfare 2’s game modes.
